The Secrets of Grand Central Walking Tour
The commuter day is so hectic, that few New Yorkers rushing through Grand Central ever really get to learn about the hidden history and lesser known lore behind this classic landmark. Here's your chance as we celebrate Grand Central with a discussion of the symbolism behind its decor and the mysteries behind this Beaux Arts gem. Stops include Grand Central's "whispering arch"; Vanderbilt Hall; a secret apartment used as a speakeasy during the 1920s; its classic ceiling mural with its mysterious constellations painted in reverse; and Jules Coutan's Roman group god sculpture - a crowning masterpiece to the structure.
12:00-2:00pm tour. $30 per person. Advance reservations required by Friday, March 11th. Reservations are considered final sale on Wednesday, March 9th. Participants should be fully vaccinated and mask wearing is encouraged. The group will meet in the lobby at The Cornell Club-New York.
