Join fellow members for an engaging discussion on US- China relations.

What are the major points of contention? Is there a practical, objective path between the world's two largest economies? How can they move forward together? Should they? Mr. Wang will take a look at the major hot spots and discuss how they came to be.

Few people, if any, have a better grasp of U.S.-China relations, and the Chinese-American experience, than Charles P. Wang. As an advisor to five consecutive U.S. Presidents 1977-2008 – both Democrat and Republican (Jimmy Carter; Ronald Reagan; George H.W. Bush; Bill Clinton; George W. Bush) – Charles has had a front-row seat on the diplomatic roller coaster ride with China: from cold war; to fast-growing partnership; to becoming the best of frenemies.

We will consider:

  1. COVID-19
  2. Balance of Trade
  3. Expansion of Chinese Territories in the South China Sea
  4. Influx of Chinese students into the U.S. Higher Education System
  5. Immigration, particularly with EB5 and H1 Visas
  6. The Confucius Institute
  7. Rebirth of the Cornell University Peony Garden

Please join us for what promises to be a fascinating webinar – and bring your questions!

Charles Pei Wang is currently President of Chinese American Cultural & Art Association, and an Ellis Island Medal of Honor winner as an outstanding American immigrant. Since leading the Chinatown Planning Council (now Chinese-American Planning Council) in the mid-1960s, he has been a cornerstone of the Asian-American community in public, private, and non-profit roles. Charles led the successful charge to upgrade social services and infrastructure in Chinatown, and is responsible for creating the Asian-American community in Flushing, Queens. NYC Mayors, NYS Governors, U.S. Presidents, and foreign leaders have come to him for leadership and advice. A former Board member of Emblem Health and the United Way, Charles is now semi-retired.
