A Taste of Africa with Procera Gin Founder Guy Brennan
Join us for a taste of Africa with Procera Gin Founder Guy Brennan
Procera Gin was created to bring the very best of Africa to the world. Proudly distilled in Nairobi, Kenya, Procera is portfolio of ultra-premium, award-winning gins crafted from botanicals and ingredients sourced from across the African continent.
At the heart of Procera gins are fresh – never dried – juniper berries sourced from the Juniperus Procera, a variety of juniper tree that is indigenous to the highlands of Kenya. Berries are handpicked at the end of the short rains with help from the local community, and when distilled, create the distinctive nutty and earthy flavors which define Procera Gin.
Sustainability is at the core of Procera's mission. Founder Guy Brennan and his team have a vision to reforest the Kenyan highlands with Procera trees. Since the gin's inception they have planted one new tree per bottle sold. The distinctive bottles are crafted from 100% recycled glass, while at the distillery in Nairobi, they have introduced a pioneering, zero waste water system. Everything done at Procera is driven by environmental responsibility and contributes to a sustainable future for the continent and the planet.
Founder Guy Brennan was born in Australia and grew up in Sydney, where he earned an MBA. His parents were both academics and travelled extensively, which began Guy's love of travel. Guy came to Kenya in 2011 to found a private equity fund which he ran for seven years, but, he realized that he was an entrepreneur at heart and needed to turn in that direction. One afternoon he was enjoying cocktails with friends. He held up a bottle of gin and read the ingredients… all were from Africa. "Why send all of these botanicals to Europe, make gin there and sell it back here," he asked. "Why don't we make our own gin here in Africa?" Procera Gin was born.
Guy will introduce members to Procera Gin through a progressive tasting of the signature Procera Blue Dot that is likely to change the way you think about gin. Following the tasting will be a reception with hors d'oeuvres and drinks.
