 Margaret "Digit" Degidio Murphy, Class of 1983, is one of the brightest stars in the history of Cornell sports and a pioneer in women's hockey. After receiving a varsity letter in all four years, being Ivy Player of the Year in 1981, and captain in both her junior and senior year (winning the Ivy League crown both seasons), she was elected to the Cornell Athletics Hall of Fame in 1994. The women's hockey team's MVP award is now named after her. 

Digit has had over twenty years of coaching experience since her start as the first female coach for the Division I women's hockey team and is excited to discuss her insights, inspiration, and keys to success both from behind the bench and beyond.

Margaret "Digit" Murphy is an innovator, visionary, and builder in the women's sports world. In April 2020, she accepted the role as the President of the first NWHL Professional Women's Hockey Franchise in Canada, The Toronto Six. Digit has had over twenty years of coaching experience since her start as the first female coach for the Division I women's hockey team at Brown University which, in 2014, earned her the recognition as the first female to be added to the Brown Ice Hockey Legend portrait gallery. Digit has coached Olympians, All-Americans, and earned numerous ECAC and Ivy League titles. Prior to accepting her role as President of The Toronto Six, Digit was worked for the international hockey organization the KHL, coaching the Chinese Kunlun Red Star club in order to buildup women's hockey in China. Under Digit's direction, the Kunlun Red Star club was narrowly inched out of a first place win in the CWHL league finishing up instead as runner ups in the final game. During that time, Digit also championed the development of the Sport Ambassador model in China for Kunlun Red Star Hockey Club. From 2013 - 2015 Digit coached the women's hockey team the Boston Blades to two Clarkson Cup championships. Digit is a tireless advocate for creating opportunities for women using sports as her platform. She is the founder of 'United Womens Sports' which focuses on creating a paradigm shift in the women's sports world as well as 'Proven Winners', a company which connects athletes and corporations. Digit prides herself on the belief that sports can be used as a powerful platform to encourage and empower women to grow and advocate for equal opportunities in life.
