Forever Faithful: Celebrating the Greatest Moments of Cornell Hockey

Forever Faithful, published in 2017 by Cornell University Press, celebrates the greatest moments of Cornell's men's and women's hockey teams, focusing on 24 memorable games played since the opening of Lynah Rink in 1957, and explaining the rituals and traditions of the Lynah Faithful. Jim Roberts '71 and Arthur Mintz '71 will talk about how the book came to be, and delve into the research process through which they gained insights from the coaches and players who were involved, and discovered the photos that illuminated each moment.

Jim Roberts '71 worked as a musician after graduating from Cornell. He began writing about music and musicians in the late '70s, which led to a job as the editor-in-chief of Bass Player magazine and eventually group publisher for the Miller Freeman Music Group in San Francisco. He left that position in 1999 to return to Cornell to work for Alumni Affairs and Development. A year later, he was appointed editor & publisher of Cornell Alumni Magazine, where he remained until his retirement in 2014.

Arthur Mintz '71 played Nathan Detroit in "Guys and Dolls" and Tevye in "Fiddler on the Roof" in summer camp productions in 1965 and 1966, and was a member of the Math Team at Brooklyn's Erasmus Hall High School, from which he graduated in 1967. From that unlikely background, he became the official scorer for Cornell men's hockey in 1983, the public address announcer for Cornell football in 1986, and the public address announcer for Cornell men's hockey in 1987.
