Join Doug Braunstein '83, Founder and Managing Partner of Hudson Executive Capital as he discusses the historical framework in place between U.S. public companies and their investors and how industry fundamentals, regulatory, legislative, and governance standards have changed the current framework for engagement.  In this context, there has been a corresponding rise in activism but the nature of that engagement is changing based on the role of the traditional long only institutions.  How public company boards and management adapt and address these changes will play a key role in the manner in which companies deal with their strategic agenda and the ongoing optimization of capital deployment.

Doug has 29 years of industry experience, most recently serving as JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s Chief Financial Officer until December 2012, as a member of the Company's Operating Committee, and as Vice Chairman since January 2013.  Prior to that, Doug was Head of JPMorgan's Americas Investment Banking and Global M&A departments from 2008 to 2010, Global Head of Industry Coverage and M&A from 2002 – 2007, and Global Head of M&A from 1997 to 2002. He also served as a member of JPMorgan's Executive Committee and the Investment Bank Management Committee.  Doug has been an advisor to numerous boards and management teams in the planning, structuring and implementation of the full range of corporate finance solutions. He has worked on over $1 trillion in transactions.

He is a trustee of Cornell University, and serves as co-chair of the Finance Committee.  He is a member of Cornell's School of Industrial and Labor Relations Advisory Board and Advisory Council and a member of Cornell’s Johnson NYC Advisory Group. He also serves on Harvard Law School's Dean's Advisory Board. He is a member of the Economic Club of New York, a Board Member of the Foreign Policy Association, a member of the UJA of Greater New York's Wall Street and Financial Services Division, and on the Board of Directors of the Gordon A. Rich Memorial Foundation.  He received his B.S. from Cornell University in 1983 and his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1986.
