Join Members for a private tour to learn the importance of the world-famous Woolworth Building, the tallest building in the world for 17 years when it opened in 1913, and its unique role in the history of skyscrapers and the New York City skyline.

Visit the landmarked lobby, which was granted Landmark status in 1983, while enjoying a tour with exclusive access to the mezzanine, which affords a unique perspective on this spectacular space with an up-close view of its extraordinary mosaic ceiling and historic murals. The tour includes all three areas of the main lobby with its amusing corbel characters, marble, stained glass, and monumental barrel vaults as well as a visit to the lower level.

The tour will explain the history and context of Frank W. Woolworth’s empire, the then-existing construction industry, design development of the building, and the marketing of the resulting architectural landmark that was the tallest building in the world from 1913 to 1930.  There will be time on the tour for you to take photographs and to ask questions.

10:30am-12:00pm.  $45 per person.  Members and their guests are invited to enjoy lunch at The Club following the tour; the cost is $20 per person.  Advance reservations required by Friday, July 31st, at which time they are considered final sale.
