Sustainable Freedom - Living a Liberated Life from the Inside Out

Ivy Woolf Turk is an ICF Certified Professional Life Coach in private practice and Founder of Project Liberation.  Formerly Co-Creator and Director of the Blackbird Project at The Women's Prison Association, she is also a board member of Liberation Prison Yoga, a consultant to the Justice Advocacy Group, LLC in Alexandria, VA. a 2016 Center for Social Innovation, Agent of Change Fellow, and a Founding member of the National Council of Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Women and Girls. Ivy was nominated a Changemaker for the recent First State of Women Summit.  She is also a motivational speaker on criminal justice-related issues nationally.

Ivy has a unique perspective on incarceration, homelessness and reentry.  A former executive in the advertising and real estate businesses, she found herself caught up in a situation with criminal consequences. While incarcerated, Ivy taught GED English literacy, Yoga and Meditation to groups of demographically diverse women at Danbury Federal Prison Camp. She also co-created C.H.O.I.C.E.S., a group of inmates that went out into the community to speak to at-risk youth about the consequences of poor choices. After serving 4 years of a 5-year sentence, she not only has her own perspective and experience with the incarceration process, but that of hundreds of women with whom she worked with while imprisoned as well as now, in re-entry.

It was the rigors of re-entry and the collateral consequences of incarceration that led Ivy to create a series of transformational workshops that deliver powerful personal development tools in a safe and supportive environment to women who are imprisoned in their lives in one way or another.  Whether in her private practice or in Project Liberation workshops, she assists people in building a new and solid foundations for their lives.   As some re-enter families and communities with new social and emotional skills, enhanced family ties, reduced emotional barriers to goal achievement and tools for holistic healthy and most importantly, sustainable living, they begin lives they may never have even dreamed of.   In tandem with community partners providing core stabilization services, the fusion of arts-based intervention, life coaching, yoga, meditation and other healing modalities, enables criminal justice involved women to lower their risk of recidivism.  Others learn to break old patterns and are able to stop repeating the cultural conditioning that got them stuck to begin with.

Ivy has a Bachelor of Science from Boston University, and earned her CPC/PCC from Coaching for Transformation, Leadership that Works.  She is the mom of four inspiring adult children.
