In 1994, South Africa's transition to democracy transformed not only the country but also the wine industry. Isolated from world markets under apartheid, the quality suffered, but with the reintegration in the global economy under democracy, in flowed capital (both human and financial), oak barrels, and steel tanks and out flowed better wine. We will taste a range of six wines from leading winemakers in South Africa. We will examine the stunning sites and the diverse people that have 400 years of winemaking history. The start of our summer is the perfect time for South African wines as they are perhaps the only country in the world with a national holiday devoted to grilling (Braai)!

This session is led by Tyler Colman, Ph.D., author of two wine books and wine educator at NYU. He writes the popular wine blog, DrVino.com

7:30pm registration, 8:00pm tasting.  $47 per person plus tax and gratuity.  Reservations are required and become final sale on Friday, June 3. Walk-ins will not be permitted.
