Chris Matthews- SOLD OUT
Chris Matthews, host of MSNBC's Hardball, has been following American politics since the first Eisenhower campaign.
Hardly a decade later he was engaged in American politics professionally. Back home from the Peace Corps in Africa, he was working in the US senate. Then came his tour in the White House as a presidential speechwriter, followed by his front-row seat as top aide to the legendary Speaker of the House, Tip O'Neill, Jr.
In the late 1980s, Chris switched to full-time journalism, serving as Washington Bureau Chief for the San Francisco Examiner. In this capacity he covered some of the great historic events of the late 20 th century, including the fall of the Berlin Wall and the first all-races election in South Africa.
In 1997 he launched Hardball, now on MSNBC. He has been on the air every weekday night since.
Each paid attendee will receive Matthews's upcoming book is BOBBY KENNEDY: A Raging Spirit. Drawing on extensive research and interviews, Matthews pulls back the curtain on the public and private worlds of Robert Francis Kennedy. Overlooked by his father, and overshadowed by his war-hero brother, Bobby Kennedy was the perpetual underdog. When he had the chance to become a naval officer like Jack, Bobby turned it down, choosing instead to join the Navy as a common sailor. It was a life changing experience that led him to connect with voters from all walks of life: young or old, black or white, rich or poor.
6:00pm cash bar reception; 6:30pm lecture. $28 per person, includes a copy of Bobby Kennedy: A Raging Spirit. Due to the popularity of this event, registration is limited to one guest per member. Advance reservations required by Thursday, October 26th, at which time they are considered final sale.
